In uncertain times, with the risk of a third world war and authoritarian regimes on the rise, I open my studio in Berlin, as a kind reminder that art is a survival skill in times of crisis.

If more desirable presents and futures are to become possible, art should be used not just for looking at it and applauding  it, but as a form of social training

accessible to everyone.

Let’s do some rehearsals for tender futures and train to occupy the stage instead of simply applauding others.

The Kiss Game

One of the few 100% collaborative games today: a love lab, an easy and pleasurable training for more love.

Aren’t there enough wars already? Let’s not bring them into our personal lives.

fitness for dreamers

a performative installation in 3 acts

cabinet.jpeg

An exploration of the dreaming mind as a powerful form of cognition: one that expands the openness to the unexpected, the freedom to move beyond habitual patterns and to respond creatively to the unpredictable.

Dreams are not only private stories; they are also traces of the times we live in, absorbing social and political tensions, fears, desires, hopes and possible futures.

1st act: Do You Still Dream?

a petition for a migratory social dreaming platform and audio installation in public space

Somewhere between a stage, a playground, an assembly space, a new dream machine and a resting place, Do You Still Dream? transforms a minimal form into a nest for collective imagination, vulnerability and social dreaming.

The erosion of collective imagination creates fertile ground for authoritarian tendencies. Sharing the products of our dreaming minds, even briefly, can become a quiet form of resistance, a reminder that other futures can still be imagined.

In this sense, the work is not only an object, but a social choreography: a temporary architecture for collective imagination, where strangers can lie down, look at the sky together and speak about what usually remains invisible.

Rules of the circle

  1. Lie down with your head toward the center.

  2. Look at the sky.

  3. Tell the story of one of your dreams: dreams from sleep or dreams for the future.

  4. Listen to someone else’s.

  5. Leave with a larger imagination.

For children

Children can also use the platform as a stage. They can reenact a dream they had, moving, dancing, growing with their dreams, not away from them.

3rd act: dreams under dictatorship

Still a work in progress, dreams under dictatorship will be a ritual of disobedience disguised as a rave.

Inspired by Charlotte Beradt's The Third Reich of Dreams, it grows on the question: how bodies can rehearse freedom before authoritarianism becomes habit? At a time marked by the resurgence of the far right across Europe and the US, the work turns dance and imagination into a rehearsal for democracy and celebration of human rights and collective freedom.

How NOT to Plant a Baobab in Greenland

a board game for post-apocalyptic relationships

baobab.jpeg
Baobab
00:00 / 01:31

How NOT to Plant a Baobab in Greenland is designed for people who plan to live and work together, from couples to partners, from organizations to communities. Based on each participant`s survival dance styles, needs and ways of inhabiting Earth, this can be also used by architects as a tool for mapping more profoundly their clients’ requirements, in order to propose spaces that are not useless or, even worse, detested by their inhabitants, but rather help them harmonize themselves with the humans and with the nature around. In our world of multiple crises, where all the conflicts and wars show us more and more obviously that the quality of our relationships, or the lack of it, extends or shortens our life on earth, good relationships, with nature included, may indicate, in fact, if we have any future at all. Finding out in what places and groups to ”plant” ourselves in order to gain a future is simply the reward of this game for post-apocalyptic relationships. Enjoy it!
